HRPP @ Scholars Week!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our table to say hello, ask questions, and consult about research projects! We hope to have the opportunity to work with you in the future.

HRPP Update

Current Processing Time Update:
  • We are experiencing a higher than usual submission volume, and our office will be engaged in Scholars Week activities this week. Please anticipate slightly longer turnaround times than those posted this week and next.
Now Available: New WWU HRPP Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Approved by the Vice Provost for Research (Institutional Official), HRPP Administrator, Institutional Review Board (IRB) Chair, and IRB members, this policy is effective immediately.

Note to Researchers:  To ensure smoothest processing, include all required CITI certifications (students: you must include your faculty adviser's CITI certificate with your submission), and be sure your application is complete and ready for review. See HRPP Tips for a Successful Protocol Submission for additional guidance.

FORMS: Please use only HRPP submission forms and templates currently available on the website. The HRPP will not accept previous application (submission) forms dated prior to MARCH 2025.

WWU Update regarding Federally Funded Research

New WWU Faculty and Staff

On behalf of the HRPP, welcome to Western! Nearly everyone has an "IRB story" — some positive, some perhaps not as much. Whatever your experiences, the WWU HRPP is excited to work with you to support your studies and promote research integrity together.

Human Participant/Research Ethics Outreach

Would you like someone from the HRPP to visit your College or Department meeting? Your class? Other group of any size? Would you like to schedule an individual consultation?

Together with the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, we offer a variety of educational outreach opportunities on human participant research history and principles, HRPP processes, as well as broader research integrity and ethics programming. Explore our HRPP Educational Outreach options and contact us to schedule.
